Greetings,

 It’s hard to believe it’s already October. I was talking with Taylor Friedman in the main office last week about how quickly time passes in a school. From morning to afternoon bell and from the first day of school in August to the last in June, there’s A LOT happening. It’s not uncommon to wake up in November wondering what happened to the last three months. It’s especially hard to believe that we are already welcoming April Ellis (Grade 2) and Jess Kondratowicz (Grade 1) back from their maternity leaves. We are so excited for their return this week. They will be thrilled to see how well their classes were cared for during the first few weeks of school. Lauren Nichols and Kristina Smith will return to paraprofessional positions here in the building and both have promising careers in education. I can’t thank them enough! 

As we embark on our second full month of school, please mark your calendars for the following events and activities:

Events & Meetings:

Thursday, October 6 

  • Picture Day - Thank you in advance to all the parent volunteers who have signed up to help out! Your assistance makes the day run much more smoothly!
  • Early Release Day. Students are dismissed at 12:50 pm. Busses will arrive at their usual stops approximately 2 hours earlier than usual. Please plan accordingly.

October 7 through Monday, October 10

  • 4-Day Holiday Weekend - NO School Friday or Monday 

Tuesday, October 11

  • PTA Parent Forum - 6 to 7:30 pm (Babysitting Available) This month’s topic is Bullying. Come prepared to learn about and discuss ways we can partner to help students navigate the world of friendships while respecting each others’ boundaries and uniqueness.

Wednesday, October 12 

  • Stone Soup - Students in Grades K through 4 will participate in the annual reading of Stone Soup and celebrate our harvest with some homemade soup of our own!
  • School Board Meeting - Topics include the annual budgeting process and the FAST program. 

Friday, October 21

  • Fall Fun Day - older classes partner up with younger classes in this afternoon of school-wide fall games and crafts. Parent volunteers are welcome to join us. Please reach out to Jen Lizotte (jlizotte@plainfieldschool.org) if you are interested and available between 1 and 2:30 pm.
  • First School Dance (7 pm to 9 pm) - Grades 6 to 8 - Sponsored by the 7th Grade Class.

Thursday & Friday, October 27 & 28

  • Parent Teacher Conferences - Sign up coming soon! - Meet with your child’s teacher to learn about their academic strengths and growth.

Sunday, October 30
