SCHOOL BOARD GOALS 2007-08
I. The School Board will continue to review the curriculum
Action 1: The Board will complete the review of the remaining curriculum areas
Action 2: The Board will focus on the areas up for revision.
Action 3: The Board will explore ways to accelerate and refine the curriculum process.
II. The School Board will work with the Facility Committee on building needs.
Action 1: The Board will review the Facility Committee’s ongoing recommendations.
Action 2: The Board will ask the Facility Committee to host a public forum on the
issue of improving the parking lot, and to explore both short term and long term needs for building and grounds.
Action 3: The Board will consider financial options for funding facility needs.
III. The School Board will review the administrative staffing of the school.
Action 1: The Board will review the Superintendent position and job description.
Action 2: The Board will fill the vacancy in the Superintendent position.
Action 3: The Board will explore alternative leadership structures.
IV. The School Board will continue to pursue ways to inform/involve parents and
community members of activities and issues.
Action 1: The Board will update and distribute the annual School Profile.
Action 2: The Board will hold a public forum to explore the balance between classroom and out of classroom learning experiences.
Action 3: The Board will review and improve the school board section of the school’s website as a way to keep parents and community members informed.
V. The School Board will review the tenure decision process
Action 1: The Board will review the current process, the relevant state law, and the school board role with the administration and the school attorney.
Action 2: The Board will survey other schools’ tenure decision processes.
Action 3: If appropriate, the Board will recommend changes to our school’s process.
VI. The School Board will explore and define collective responsibility and decision making (among and between faculty, administration, board, and public)
Action 1: The board will educate itself on the theory and practice of “collective responsibility”.
Action 2: The board will assess the applicability of “collective responsibility”.
