Who am I? Well, I am an artist, an athlete, a talker, a laugher, a thinker, a learner, and… my students… they call me Ms. “C”. There are a variety of things that make me who I am, and it is a culmination of these things that make me the teacher I have become. I am currently the Art Teacher at Plainfield Elementary School where I teach grades K-8.

For my undergraduate studies I attended Colby-Sawyer College where I received my Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design, and a Minor in Art History. But, after completing the program I knew there was something missing. It was after completing my 480-hours of graphic design internships that I discovered sitting in front of a computer screen was not the job for me. It was through the many years of coaching, and the opportunity to be a teacher’s assistant my junior year of college that I knew the teaching field was where I belonged. So, last year I attended The Upper Valley Teacher Institute and received my teaching certificate in art grades K-12.

Now, I am currently working on my Masters Degree in Education through New England College. It is through the continuation of my studies that I plan to further develop my teaching to increase student awareness of progression within their art. Student awareness is an important element within my classroom because I believe art is a language that each person can speak, and each can do so in his or her own unique voice. Art can be a language to express who you are, or what you feel, and it is essential that I communicate this to my students.
